Determining the Difference of Density f stomata on Succulents versus broadleaf Plants

Introduction:
Stoma, or the plural stomata, is a pore put together in the stems and leafs of plants. The primary function of this pore is gas reciprocation in order to allow carbon dioxide into the plant for cellular respiration. Specialized cells known as guard cells ar rig on either side of the pore and regulate the surface of the opening. Depending on the size of this opening, various dos of gases containing carbon dioxide and oxygen are allowed to enter where they are used for processes such as photosynthesis and respiration. The amount of stomata in for each one leaf varies depending on factors such as the individual observed and species. Plants such as cacti and other crassulacean venomous metabolism plants would either have more or little stomata to regulate their intake and usage of these essential supplements. This experiment is to nail down if succulents will have less stomata due to the fact that they as well loose water through them, and water is crucial in the arid environments that cactuses are found in (Donoghue).

Methods:
On October 25th, we gather ten different leaves.



Five leaves were from plants that live in ironic conditions such as the desert and the other five leaves were from trees determined on the Unity College campus representing a temperate environment. We then apply a thin coat of cod nail coating to each leaf. Once dry, we covered the nail polish cover area of the leaf with a small piece of clear tape. The tape was then peeled away from the leaf and stuck to a slide and labeled. After preparing the slides, they were each examined under a role of 100x mm and then adjusted accordingly so that the stomata of each leaf could be seen, counted, and converted into tightness.

Results:
