George Kelly Personal Construct Theory
The theoretical concepts of this theory argon that it is based on how we view the humanness, living in our bear mortalal terra firmas and how we make awareness of what is happening nigh us and how we feel and experience things.
We develop internal models of reality that atomic number 18 Constructs and these help us to understand and explain the world around us. When constructs are incomplete, or challenged, we can react with emotional states of anxiety, confusion, exasperation and fear. Constructs are also Polar, which means they hand over opposites, i.e. Masculinity vs. muliebrity Gentle vs. Rough and Aggressive vs. Weak, and so good cannot hold out without bad.
Our constructs helps us to make our world more predict satisfactory, to beat & change, they influence our expectations and perceptions and reflect on our efforts to make sense of the world. This theory believes that to understand ourselves, we have to ask why we have done or do certain things and examine our aver constructs. This is the same when punishing to understand other people, we have to try to put ourselves in their shoes and look at the world through those psyches eyes and we ask what sort of answer this person expects by behaving like this.
Kelly says that people are like scientists as all behaviours are seen as an experiment. The more we are able to predict events, the more control we will have over them. No one has access to our own truth so Kelly takes the as if approach which suggests we might look at ourselves as if we are scientists as they aim to predict events in the world and as we are part of the world, may be seen as doing the same.
This is an optimistic approach and does not view a person as being ill, it is based on how a person responds to constructs that are invalid. People are flexible; in full functioning and can change their constructs.
